9:00am

Join us on February 11th for the second class of our Winter Workshop series! Learn to craft your very own D floral Dorset Button using pearl cotton thread, floss, and a plastic ring. Add a tie tack, and you can wear it on your hat, scarf, or sweater. Your kit will include instructions and enough materials to make two Dorset buttons, including the one you make in class.

Dorset Buttons are a style of craft-made button originating in the English county of Dorset. Reaching the height of its popularity between 1622 and 1850, this traditional art is kept alive by buttoners like Carolyn. These beautiful buttons are perfect to show how amazing wearable art really can be.

Class is limited to 12 individuals. Cost is $45 for Friends of Ramsey House members and $50 for non-members.

About Carolyn FogelmanI love designing with color and shape. Making Dorset buttons and fusing glass allow me to experiment with both. It is gratifying to see each Dorset Button project forming in my hands, while fused glass provides the excitement of seeing the finished product as it emerges from the kiln. I have been making Dorset buttons for about seven years. I appreciate the symmetry and the history of the Dorset button, which dates back to the 1500s in England, where one branch of my family originated. I love selecting color combinations to make wearable art for different seasons.
