On Sunday August 21, as part of History Days, presented by the East Tennessee History Center, a Vintage Baseball Tournament will be played at Ramsey House starting at noon. The winner of each game will play each other for the weekend championship.
Ride the Three Rivers Rambler along with some Vintage Ball Players to the games as an extra treat.
Author Jerry Ellis will be the guest speaker at the Ramsey House Annual Meeting to be held at the East Tennessee History Center, 601 S. Gay Street, Tuesday June 21, at 5:30 Mr. Ellis will have a meet and greet along with a book signing. A light supper will be available at 6:15,with the program to follow. This event is open to the public. Mr. Ellis is the author of Walking the Trail; One Mans Journey Along the Cherokee Trail of Tears. He was the first man in modern history to actually walk the 900 miles that the Cherokee followed. He sold all of his worldly possessions and slept in woods or fields for most of the journey. The book was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize and a National Book Award among other honors. Admission for Ramsey House Members $20, non-members $25. A Musical Gathering of Ancient Sounds
East Tennessee’s Scots-Irish and Appalachian Musical Roots: Saturday September 3. Enjoy listening to a daylong event featuring the musical roots of East Tennessee. We will be featuring artists that are known for their Scottish, Irish and Appalachian music styles. Food vendors and period demonstrators will be available along with $5 Tours of the Historic Home. Admission: $15 per person ($10 for Ramsey House Members), children12 and under free. More information coming soon.
A Night with Dave Ramsey
A Legacy of Giving: October 14. Dave Ramsey will be the keynote speaker for a benefit dinner to support Historic Ramsey House. The event will open at 5:30pm for a meet and greet with Dave. Hors d’ Oeuvres and a cash bar will be available for your enjoyment. Dancing to follow. Tickets are $100 per plate with all proceeds going to Historic Ramsey House so that they may continue their mission to preserve, educate and interpret the Historic Home and the exceptional family that occupied it and contributed so much to early Knoxville and East Tennessee. December 10, will be our annual wreath making workshop. This popular class led by Julia Shiflett and her merry band of Wreath Elves are ready to teach you how to make a beautiful wreath that you can take home for the Holidays. All supplies are furnished, you need only bring a small pair of garden shears and gloves. Refreshments are served at 12:30 pm, the class starts at 1 pm. Class is $35 per person. Reservations only. Holiday Candlelight Tour
Sunday December 11. Get your Holiday started by enjoying the period decorations by candlelight in the 1797 home of Francis Alexander Ramsey and his family. Costumed docents and children at play as they would have been at the time. Start your evening with a visit to Santa Clause in the Visitor’s Center. There will be holiday treats for our guests and entertainment. There is no admission but donations are cheerfully accepted and appreciated. Event is form 6-8pm
